Choosing Homeschool
curriculum can be a daunting and overwhelming task, especially your first year.
Where do you start? How do you know what will work for your child…and you? Do you add in extra-curriculars? How do
you determine where your child is in relation to said curriculum?
All these questions and
more swim around in your head and can even make you crazy at times! So today,
let’s look at some practical and helpful tips when choosing curriculum.
If you’ve not studied
them before, you may need to do some reading on learning styles. I have found
this website very helpful in just doing some basic research. I enjoyed reading
about the Learning Styles as well as the Multiple Intelligences. It’s very good
information and you may even be able to read it and know for sure what your
child’s learning style is.

For those of you who
don’t know your child’s learning style, consider taking one or both of the
following tests. You will answer a few questions from your child’s perspective.
It will then give you your child’s learning style. Quick and simple!

So, now what?? What do
you do with these answers? If you look
at this link from
the previous website, you will see “Practical tips on how
to use your learning styles to help you learn.” This link gives you GREAT ideas
of things to do with your child pertaining to their learning styles. I have
found these to be extremely helpful considering my oldest is a Tactile learner
and I am a Visual/Auditory learner. These ideas have clued me in on his
learning style and what I can do to help him learn better and more efficiently.
How do you choose curriculum? What websites do
you recommend? Please share with us so we can help each other in this journey!!
